Michael Lacey, the Outstanding American Mathematician

As we have always been told or instead witnessed, knowledge is power. Some people have embraced the notion and have done wonders. Such individuals have become a blessing to their families and societies in which they come from. Michael Lacey is such an individual. He has exceptional knowledge and skills in mathematics.

Michael Lacey is an American born on September 26th, 1959. He is a mathematician. Contrary to many people’s perception of Mathematics, Lacey has proved the subject to be an easy one and manageable. He acquired his Ph.D. from University of Illinois in 1987 under the leadership of Walter Philip.

The thesis that he worked on was in the field of probability in Banach spaces. The thesis oversaw him solve a problem in the law of iterated logarithm. In the following years, he has continuously supported various works on probability, harmonic analysis, and ergodic theory. Note that the harmonic analysis is very essential. The institutions that were advantaged to get his services the very first were Louisiana State University and University of North Carolina (UNC) which is situated at Chapel Hill. After that, for seven years, that is 1989-1996, he worked in Indiana University. It is here that he acquired National Science Doctoral Foundation Fellowship. Every research or theorem he worked on he succeeded. In turn, he has received numerous awards including the Salem Prize.

In 1996, he became a professor in Georgia Institute of technology, and later he became part of American Mathematics Society in 2004. Michael Lacey continues to be a significant contributor in the field of Mathematics. He has published numerous articles to keep people especially students informed. Asides from lecturing and proving theories or rather coming up with some, he continues to be an inspiration to many.
